I have applied mobify to http://realhornby.com and when I checked recently, it wasn't displaying the mobile version on mobile devices.
When I went to the "Publishing" area, the preview screen is black for both the latest changes and the live site.
I am not sure where to begin troubleshooting this, if you can offer any advice.
From what you’ve described, the “black preview screen” sounds like a common issue that occurs with the Google Chrome browser. What’s happening here is that the Mobify Cloud website lives behind the HTTPS protocol, to secure your login information. The Preview window that’s embedded in the page, however, is attempting to load your website and apply a preview of the mobile adaptation
- and this preview is done over HTTP. Google Chrome doesn’t like loading “unsecure” HTTP content over a HTTPS connection, so it blocks it. This is why you see a black screen inside the Preview window.
To work around this issue, you have a couple of options:
1) If you want to continue using Google Chrome, look for a grey ‘shield’ icon that appears to the very right of the “address bar” at the top of your browser window. If you click on the icon, it will present a drop-down that gives you the option to “Load unsafe script.” Pressing this button will reload the page, and load the Preview of your mobile website inside Mobify Cloud. 2) If you’re using a Mac, Apple Safari will not present this warning about insecure content
- you should be able to simply view the page and Preview should load your website.
Let me know if that helps you out at all!
